There were several photographs taken that night at the opening of Flora, the Red Menace; both of Judy and Liza as well as Liza and Vincente, and yet this the only picture that I keep coming back to.

...and as they grew so did their love...
When one reviews the other images from that night, the words "staged" and "cliched" come to mind. There is an overall stiffness if you will, a hawk-eye awareness of the press, a profound understanding of shape, movement, and body language and thus deliberate manipulation of the circumstance. It screamed "GARLAND'S GIRL MAKES GOOD".
This picture however, so private and intimate of a moment they are sharing that one almost feels as though they are prying. The look in Liza's eyes and the way she is clinging to Judy, and Judy almost holding her together. This isn't a picture of two legends but rather a portrait of the love between a mother and daughter.
